Day 11: Web-based Portfolios

Using technology to enhance the learning experience for students with varied learning styles is important -- as is creating projects at a LoTi level of 3 or higher. We're going to step away from this today and work at a LoTi level one as we develop an environment to showcase the work you have done this semester. We will begin to build your website today, you'll continue to add to it throughout the remainder of the semester, and the last three days of class you'll finish and upload all of your pages. This website will allow you to connect all of your course projects together so that you will finish the semester with your own web-based portfolio.

Being able to communicate via the web to parents, co-workers, students, and the community is important -- building this website will help you to begin learning how to create an online presence that can ease you into those communications. As you work on your website -- think about what image you want to project, what ideas you want to get across, and what level of communication you want to have with your audience.

You'll probably want to download the 30-day trial of Dreamweaver and Fireworks so that you can work from home: Download trial There is also an online tutorial that may help you: Dreamweaver tutorial

Don't forget that the Digital Images assignment is due Friday at the beginning of class. See Day 10 for more information.

Continue working on your Fireworks elements outside of class -- due Wednesday.
