Day 4: Productivity Tools
Projects can be simplified through the use of templates -- they save corporate employees and classroom teachers time and aggravation. However, there are times when building something from scratch is the best way to accomplish a task.Today we'll be using Excel spreadsheet software to conduct a survey and analyze the data - we're going to ask questions of the class about beliefs on teaching and learning. You'll also create a grade book / attendance record using spreadsheet software.
Don't forget to get the item of your choice approved before the end of class today.
While you are focusing most of your work time on acquiring skills in using productivity tools -- you're also spending a portion of your time exploring best practice for using productivity tools to teach concepts to students in your grade level/subject area. Your 1-2 page integration statement should focus on this -- not on how to teach children how to make a powerpoint slide or type a research paper. The Georgia Learning Connections site and the lesson plans on the Microsoft Education site are both excellent places to find talking points for your brief. Remember -- you are expected to provide 3-4 detailed examples and make reference to the chapter on productivity tools provided in class on Tuesday. You should print a copy of all 9 items and a copy of your integration statement to turn in at the beginning of class on Wednesday.
